SCAM ALERT
Beware of the job scam
Scam Alert – Stay Safe in Your Job Search
At PERSOL, we do not charge any fee to candidates.
Unfortunately, job scams have become smarter and more common. Scammers use text messages, WhatsApp, social media, emails, and even video calls to trick people into paying money or sharing personal details.
Here's the most important thing to remember: PERSOL never charges candidates any fees for job applications, interviews, training, internship, placements or for any other service. If anyone asks you for money in our name, it's a scam.
How Job Scammers Operate
Scams today don't always look obvious. Here are some red flags to watch for:
- Messages out of the blue (SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, or social media DMs) promising jobs.
- Urgent or threatening language ("Pay now or lose the offer").
- Links or attachments you're told to click or download.
- Requests for personal info like bank details, Aadhaar, PAN, OTP, or even login passwords.
- Emails that look too polished - many scammers now use AI to write perfect, professional messages.
- Offers that sound too good to be true (huge salary, no interview, work-from-home with instant joining).
- Recruiters who refuse live conversations, or strange-looking video calls that don't feel right.
- Emails from Gmail, Yahoo, or other free accounts.
Spotting Fake Websites & Links
A common trick is creating a website that looks almost like the real one but isn't. Here's what that might look like:
- Real: www.persolindia.com Fake: www.persol-india.com (extra hyphen)
- Real: careers.tcs.com Fake: tcs-careers.com (words swapped)
- Real: www.linkedin.com Fake: linkdin.jobs.net (spelling mistake)
Look closely, when in doubt, don't click. Type the company's name into Google and go to the official site directly.
How to Protect Yourself
- Remember the golden rule: PERSOL will never ask job seekers for money.
- Check email domains: Our official emails are sent from this domain only - @persolapac.com. If it's anything else, be suspicious.
- Don't overshare: Our employees never ask for bank details, passwords, or sensitive details.
- Research first: Look up the recruiter or company on the official website.
- Trust your instincts: If something feels off - pause. A genuine company won't pressure you.
- Stop communication if unsure: End the conversation and reach out through official company contacts instead.
- Report scams: In India, you can report fraud at https://cybercrime.gov.in/
